When you’re the second richest man in the world, taking a tour to see some of the world’s most iconic and famous treasures can be called a “shopping trip”. On a more serious note, the 58-year-old Amazon founder spent an hour admiring gems, artworks and prized possessions with his family. All the items reportedly fell within his estimated net worth of £123 billion, though none is for sale.
The highlight of the tour, apart from the 24 epic photographs of Elizabeth the II’s early years as Queen, was a display of Her Majesty‘s breathtakingly beautiful Diamond Diadem, set with 1,333 brilliant-cut diamonds and 163 freshwater pearls
.
Bezos spent £90 per ticket for the after-hours tour before meeting up with “Mission Impossible” actor Tom Cruise.
A source said: “The Bezos visit is already jokingly being nicknamed a ‘shopping trip’ by Palace staff. He showed a particular interest in the Throne Room and Ballroom.”
The State Rooms, which have been closed to the public since the summer of 2019 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, was reopened on July 22. It will remain open to the public until 2 October.
Apart from the Queen’s jewels, the State Rooms also contain masterpieces by Rubens, Rembrandt and Canaletto.
Regular entry costs £60 per person, while the exclusive tickets which come with a guide cost £90.

Mr. Bezos was believed to have taken the private tour on Monday with up to 30 close friends and family. The tour started at 6:30 pm. The best thing about the “Platinum Jubilee: The Queen’s Accession” tour is that several jewelries would be placed on display for the first time.
The source added: “It overlapped slightly with the public opening, so he was moved room to room discreetly to hide his visit from the day’s last remaining visitors.”
After the viewing, he was spotted at a Mayfair restaurant with his partner Lauren Sanchez, 52, where they were later joined by Tom Cruise, 60.
