Prince William and Princess Catherine’s hospital outing last week saw the royal couple praised by fans for how carefree they looked, even though it was their first outing since Harry’s controversial memoir “Spare” was released worldwide.
However, a body language expert is telling us that all is not right with the royal couple would have us believe.
Body Language Expert Says Catherine Is “Defiant” As Opposed To William’s “Unconvincing” Smiles
On 12 January, the Prince and Princess of Wales stepped out on an official outing for the first time this year. Even though it was barely four days since Harry’s book debuted to a worldwide audience, the couple’s demeanors were playful, thankful and happy. At least on a surface level.
Body language expert, Judi James, told Fabulous that even though William tried hard to engage with the well-wishing audience, it was clear there were other emotions he was struggling with at the time.
Judi said: “William’s smile in the car is unconvincing, more like an attempt to suggest he’s ignoring all the pelting from his brother than a sign of genuine happiness or pleasure. His eyes look reflective and the mouth shape looks incongruent.”
Driving from their home in Windsor, the couple came to open the new Royal Liverpool University Hospital and inspire the spirit of togetherness. They also talked with the staff to know more about how the facility is running.
She revealed: “When he arrives at the venue the strong wind causes some self-touch rituals that look prompted by anxiety but which are in fact only caused by the struggle he and Kate are having holding their outfits together in what looks like a gale.”
Despite the wind, the couple pulled themselves together and greeted the crowds.
Judi added: “The stronger, more telling, and more positive body language cues come when he and Kate perform a perfect example of togetherness, teamwork, and resilience as they wave to the crowds in unison.”
Body Language Expert Says William And Catherine’s Outing Was A PR Move
At this point, it’s clear all Harry is doing is kicking the ball to the royal family hoping they would kick it back, but so far it’s been “dignified silence” all through.
Judi believes William and Catherine’s outing proves this point that they’re not ready to give the Sussexes any air.
Analyzing their behavior during the outing, Judi writes, “This looks like their PR moment when they tell the world their official, synchronized response to Harry’s leaks.
“Their feet walk in step and their hands are raised in matching waves that are more modest than the traditional royal wave, and with the flattened palms and slightly splayed fingers creating a suggestion of unity and friendship with the crowds.”
However, she says that William’s “upper lips” gives away his true battle suppressing his emotions.
