British Public Feels Monarchy May Be Threatened by Harry And Meghan’s Netflix Deal

It wasn’t that long ago that Royal experts warned that many see Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s actions damaging the British Royal Family as a whole. Indeed, some fear that Meghan Markle and Harry’s behavior is harmful to the monarchy as an institution. While it’s well-known that British royals have lived an ultra-privileged lifestyle for the entirety of Britain’s status as a nation-state, in more recent decades the monarchy has attempted to present a more modest public image. That is until Prince Harry blew all those efforts to hell following his marriage to Meghan Markle.

In one documentary, royal expert Afua Adom said that “Queen Elizabeth II could not stand the idea of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry becoming more popular than the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.” Additionally, the new tell-all book “Finding Freedom” by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand suggests that “the Royal Family feared being eclipsed by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.”

British Public Begins To Fear For Queen Elizabeth’s Traditions

While it’s said that many Millennials no longer treasure the same traditions espoused by Queen Elizabeth or Prince Charles, there are still loads more individuals who do. Plus, there are plenty of Millennials who may not hold to everything the Queen does, but they’d rather be fans of Prince William and Kate Middleton any day rather than Harry and Meghan Markle.

For example, following Meghan and Prince Harry’s Netflix deal one enraged fan wrote in the comment section of a poll, “I believe the monarchy is threatened if the Queen and Parliament don’t act to sever official ties with this pair. What they do in private as a family is not our concern. But to be allowed to retain titles or have positions in the Commonwealth on the back of political posturing, affiliation, and anti-UK activity is abhorrent.”

Another furious commentator said, “At this rate, Harry should be given an ultimatum – renounce your titles and remove yourself from the line of succession or be stripped of it. However he tries to deny it, he would not have got deals like this without the name of the royal family behind him.”

Meghan And Prince Harry Just Keep Doing Their Thing

The truth is that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle aren’t likely to care much what anyone says unless Queen Elizabeth actually sits up and takes notice of the duke and duchess’s behavior. While British tabloids may run polls and stacks of people comment online, it doesn’t translate to pressure or influence on Buckingham Palace. For that to happen, major media outlets along with the British Parliament will have to start discussing stripping Queen Elizabeth and the monarchy of its excessive budget.

Perhaps if the House of Windsor were to fear losing its place in society, falling among the poor unwashed commoners, then it might consider real punitive actions against Prince Harry and Meghan for their distasteful conduct. Failing that, Prince Harry and Meghan could bring down the monarchy but they won’t be whistling Dixie while sycophantic American media companies are willing to pay the big bucks.
