While a lot of people are certainly counting down the days of what’s left for this year, some are also very much looking forward to what 2021 has to bring. In fact, there is much expectation that 2020 will never be repeated again. The global pandemic that is the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) has changed life as we know it and for the British royal family, they are no different. Here are just four ways the monarchy will be forced to change some of their practices and protocols moving forward.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Will Feel The Pressure To Produce Results

Previous reports have indicated that the monarchy has already put more pressure to have Prince William and Kate Middleton to not only lead the royal family during the global pandemic, but to also take on larger roles within the firm. With many of the senior members of the royal family forced in self-isolation because of the virus, Prince William and Kate Middleton might slowly, but surely become the next faces of the royal family and of course, the future of the monarchy.

Royal Travel Might Not Come Back Right Away

If there was one very exciting aspect of being a fan of the British royal family, it was getting to witness history take place with the royals and their state trips abroad. From Australia and New Zealand to Canada and even India, each and every time a member of the royal family visited one of these countries, you could feel the excitement in the air. However, with the coronavirus now grounding air travel, there’s a very good chance that it might be many months before the royals will be able to travel again.

Things Will Certainly Get Less Personable, Which Might Be A Problem For The Royals

They say that a handshake means everything but with the coronavirus limiting person-to-person contact, that won’t happen anytime soon. As a matter of fact, right before the coronavirus became a global pandemic, Prince Charles had actually caught himself a few times trying to shake someone’s hand only to pull it away at the last minute.

Queen Elizabeth Might Not Have Much Of A Role Left

It’s without a doubt that during her very long reign, Queen Elizabeth has witnessed a lot, experienced a lot and has definitely made a lot of important decisions. However, she’s never faced such a crisis like the coronavirus outbreak, in which the invisible enemy has not only taken lives, but forced millions of people from all over the world to shelter-in-place. With that said, there’s no doubt that Buckingham Palace will ensure that Queen Elizabeth is well protected and that her staff and handlers have been cleared by trusted health officials to make sure that Her Majesty is safe from the virus.
