In fact, there’s speculation that Prince William and Kate Middleton tried to recreate the “polo kiss” that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had soon after the Duchess of Sussex presented her husband’s Los Padres trophy at a charity polo event. But unfortunately some people think that it didn’t work out to the Cambridge’s advantage. Here’s what you need to know.

Apparently, William and Kate’s kiss lacked the kind of passion that Harry and Meghan had when they locked lips in front of the cameras. Some people were actually surprised that William and Kate tried to do the same thing, seeing how they often aren’t very affectionate in public.

Of course, it didn’t take long at all for many of William and Kate’s fans and critics alike to weigh in on the matter. Some have taken to social media to write comments such as, “That is an awkward kiss for a supposedly happily married couple- I don’t think I’ve ever cheek kissed my partner as though he was an acquaintance, so odd,” along with, “Yeah, that’s… an odd choice. I cannot imagine my partner kissing me on the cheek in public. Or anytime, really. I kiss my male friends on the cheek when greeting them, I don’t kiss my hubby on the cheek to celebrate a victory of his. If he tried to kiss me on the cheek I would be seriously offended!”
