Inside Buckingham Palace’s New Stage For Platinum Jubilee

BBC recently shared a look at the stage being erected for the Platinum Jubilee Party at the Palace. An estimated 22,000 guests will be live during the party and millions more will be watching it from their homes live on BBC One.

As the clock is ticking closer to the date, more details about the glorious night are being released. Here’s what we know so far about the Buckingham Palace party taking place on June 4.

BBC Reveals Plans for the Platinum Jubilee at the Palace Stage

According to BBC, work has started to create a structure which will surround Queen Victoria’s Memorial in front of the palace. The media corporation also released an artist’s impression of what the stage will look like for the party.

The images show a stunning 360-degree stage set. 22,000 people, including members of the Royal Family, will gather to watch the BBC’s star-studded Platinum Party at the Palace on the evening of Saturday, June 4.

The unveiled artist’s impressions and animated footage show the structure stretching in a circle around the historic monument, with the Palace as a backdrop, along with projected images of the Union flag and a large portrait of the Queen. The stage will also feature lights beaming up hundreds of feet into the night sky.

Two more stages — connected to the circular stage by a walkway — will be built in front of the Palace railings.

The construction began earlier last week and will reportedly create 15,000 standing spaces around the memorial and 7,000 seats around the north and south area.

Though the lineup is yet to be revealed, the concert promises to feature some of the world’s biggest pop and rock stars, along with a choir.

The only name associated with the massive event so far is U.K. chart-topper George Ezra. Kirsty Young and Roman Kemp will host the show, which is set to be broadcast live on BBC One, BBC iPlayer and across the BBC.

Who’s Attending The Platinum Jubilee At The Palace?

For the event, BBC has allocated 10,000 tickets in a public ballot, and a further 5,000 tickets have been set aside for key workers.

Public figures and charity leaders from around the world are also expected to turn up.

The BBC’s party in the palace is just one of the four-day programme of events planned for the Jubilee weekend next month.

The celebrations will begin on Thursday, June 2 with the Queen’s Birthday Parade and Trooping the Colour. It promises to be a weekend to remember for generations to come.
