Camilla Parker Bowles is feeling rather excited to be in the spotlight again, now that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made some room following their decision to ‘Megxit’ from the royal family. As a matter of fact, Camilla received a lot of praise for recently doing a virtual reading of the children’s classic, James and the Giant Peach. While it might have felt like an unusual role for the Duchess of Cornwall, it’s one that has put the spotlight back on her and in a very positive way, too. Here’s what you need to know.

ITV News royal editor Chris Ship and Lizzie Robinson discussed Camilla’s new position in the spotlight during their Royal Rota podcast. As a matter of fact, they believe that royal fans will be seeing much more of Camilla in the coming weeks and that she will be making more headlines now than ever before, seeing how she is very close to becoming the next Queen Consort of England.

Speaking about Camilla’s guest reader role, Ship told listeners during the podcast, “She follows some famous people, Meryl Streep being one, Ryan Reynolds being another, as well as Benedict Cumberbatch. Now it was the turn of Camilla to do some acting. Never before has a royal taken on a role in that way. It seemed an appropriate one for the Duchess to get involved in.”

If that weren’t enough, Ship and Robinson also pointed out that Camilla is a patron of the Roald Dahl Marvellous Children’s Charity and that she’s always been a huge supporter of children’s literacy. It’s one that she will be much more involved in after the coronavirus lockdown has been lifted in the UK.
