Once it became clear that Prince Harry and Meghan wanted to take a step back from The Firm, it apparently angered Queen Elizabeth greatly. Not only did she require that Prince Harry and Meghan repay the Crown for the costs of remodeling their home at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, but she also made it quite clear that if Harry and Meghan were leaving … they would also leave behind their royal titles and any right to brand themselves as royals.
Those who have watched Meghan and Harry even before they left, know that the two showed a rebellious streak. While many outside the United Kingdom aren’t so familiar with traditional, royal customs, apparently Meghan and Harry embarrassed the Crown significantly by breaking protocol. In essence, Queen Elizabeth and others were horrified when they learned that Prince Harry hit up American film studio heads in an attempt to drum up acting work for Meghan.
Moreover, it seems that female royals in many regards are required to look pretty, say almost nothing, and simply wave to the crowds … something that Meghan Markle had problems with. As some might know, Meghan was incredibly outspoken about her political views. In fact, Meghan broke tradition by speaking out and working to include famous female political figures like Michelle Obama in a magazine lineup.
Some feel that Meghan and Harry simply are contrarians. They are rebels at heart who cannot stand to be told what they can and cannot do, whether those orders come from Queen Elizabeth or any other. No, in fact, as royal watchers know, Meghan prefers to give the orders rather than receive them. How many times was she seen bossing around the staff at royal functions?
The truth is, Harry and Meghan apparently hate to be restrained in any way, shape, or form. Perhaps it’s a touch of the American spirit in Meghan that is suspicious of, and maybe even hates the idea of bowing to the Crown so easily or accepting the status quo without question.

Some believe that could be why Meghan and Harry’s Royal Sussex website is still operational. Harry and Meghan’s website was supposed to shut down entirely after the Spring because it still bears the royal branding. It could be that Meghan and Harry simply haven’t had the opportunity to deal with it since the entire world is still mostly under shelter-at-home orders due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Either way, there are those who believe that the fact the Royal Sussex website is still operational proves that Meghan and Harry believe they can simply do whatever they wish. If the website continues to be operational much longer, watchers of Harry and Meghan could be right.
