British Royal Family News – History Repeats Itself?

A royal expert forecasted that Prince Harry may seek to mend his relationship with his brother, Prince William, should his union with Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, falter.

“Harry finds himself under considerable pressure to maintain some semblance of familial ties, particularly in light of the couple’s new endeavors,” he articulated to the publication “The Mirror”.

“Harry harbors lingering hopes for reconciliation and the possibility of being granted a modest role within the royal framework” comparing Harry and Meghan and the historical figures of Edward and Wallis.

“Even Edward VIII, following his abdication, was afforded a few minor positions and Harry is undoubtedly cognizant of this.”

He added, “There exists a genuine risk that Harry may experience a sense of disorientation, much like Edward VIII did when his relationship with Mrs. Simpson faced challenges.”

British Royal Family News – Who Were Edward And Wallis, And What Was Their Story?

Wallis Simpson, an illustrious American socialite, became the wife of the former King Edward VIII.

Their desire to unite in matrimony, coupled with her status as a divorcée, ignited a constitutional crisis that ultimately compelled Edward to abdicate the throne. In 1931, while still married to Ernest Simpson, her second husband, Wallis encountered Edward, then the Prince of Wales.

Five years later, following Edward’s ascension as King of the United Kingdom, Wallis dissolved her marriage to Ernest to wed Edward.

This kind of situation was much more frowned upon back in the 1930s than in modern days, such as when Harry’s father Prince Charles divorced Princess Diana to marry Camilla Bowles.

British Royal Family News – Unlike Harry And Meghan’s Situation, Edward And Wallis’ Threatened A Constitutional Crisis

The King’s desire to marry a woman who had two living ex-husbands threatened to cause a constitutional crisis in the United Kingdom and the Dominions, ultimately leading to his abdication.

This happened  in December 1936  and he abdicated to marry “the woman I love”. After abdicating, Edward was made Duke of Windsor by his brother and successor, George VI.

Wallis married Edward six months later, after which she was formally known as the Duchess of Windsor but was not allowed to share her husband’s style of “Royal Highness”.

Harry will earnestly strive to make amends with his brother, aspiring to embrace the role of a part-time Royal alongside Meghan, a position he deeply desires.
