Even though Queen Elizabeth is 93, she is still considered to be one of the hardest working members of the British royal family. In fact, the Queen manages to clock in more royal engagements and public appearances than some other members of the firm that are significantly younger than her. Prince Philip, meanwhile, has retired from the public eye and spends most of his time at the couple’s retreat at Sandringham.
But with the coronavirus now forcing many citizens to stay in lockdown, and especially those over the age of 70, this might prompt Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip to spend more time together, which is something they haven’t done in many years.
Reports have indicated that Queen Elizabeth was forced to clear her calendar this week. She was scheduled to visit the Bentley Motors Factory in Crewe and the Jodrell Bank Observatory and Square Kilometer Array Global Headquarters in Macclesfield on March 19.
While the Queen herself has not made any public comments, a statement shared by the Royal Family said as a “sensible precaution and for practical reasons in the current circumstances, changes are being made to the Queen‘s diary commitments in the coming weeks.”
