While it is common for people to want hush money and it runs in her family (her estranged father Thomas Markle admitted to lying in order to get financial compensation from the media), this rumor doesn’t make much sense.

If Meghan wanted hush money, she would stay in the Royal Family,. She would be financially supported and would be comfortable. However, she and Prince Harry are giving that up due to them actually seeking out financial independence. So, for her to demand a payout and want financial independence is an oxymoron.

Prince Harry’s Hints of Why They Have No Other Option

Although not confirmed, it seems that the public attention and royal demands might be too much for Meghan. This might be what Prince Harry meant when he simply said that they were left with no other option. He also explained that they are saddened by the end result. Doesn’t sound like they are busy negotiating how they can rake in millions and get even more attention if they want out of the spotlight.

Suing Media For Negative Publicity

Meghan is already involved in one lawsuit for a newspaper publishing a private letter she sent her father, Thomas Markle. Her main complaint seems to be negative publicity. If she were to demand a payout, that would just increase the bad press. This whole situation just doesn’t make sense.

They Have Their Own Money

It needs to be said that Harry and Meghan actually have sources for their own money. Plus, with being financially independent, they could earn an income doing whatever they choose to do. Their main interest seems to be public speaking, but Meghan could also go back to the entertainment business if she wanted to.

The rumor states that the payout demand revolves around a post-Megxit tell-all book and interviews. While there probably will be a book and many interviews, we don’t think it’s going to be quite as scandalous as the tabloids claim.
