In 2017 Payne attended another royal gala, but this time he attended without his bandmates. The event was the Queen’s Young Leaders reception held at Buckingham Palace. The late regent created the program as part of her Diamond Jubilee Trust.
The group was formed to develop young leaders who would train to have an impact on their communities. Payne once again saw Prince Harry and he met Queen Elizabeth II for the first time.
Afterward Payne posted on Instagram about meeting the queen: “An absolute honour to meet the Queen today on such a fantastic occasion.
