We always knew that Prince William was a keeper and now one startling fact from his past confirms what we knew all along. Keep reading to find out how William defied the monarchy out of love and respect for his wife.
Royal Family News: Prince William Did Not Want a Pre-Nup
Prince William was warned to have Kate sign a prenup but he refused. According to Marie Claire, the insider warnings “likely came from those remembering William’s own parents’ messy divorce, which was finalized in 1996. The then Prince Charles had to pay Princess Diana 17 million pounds …”
Unfortunately divorce was common in Charles’ generation, with three of the late Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip’s four children divorced. For context, all of them announced their separations in 1992, the year famously termed “annus horribilis” by the late regent.
Royal Family News: William Did Not Sign a Prenup
There was plenty of snarky advice given after William and Kate’s engagement in 2010, with Princess Diana’s former private secretary Patrick Jephson saying “If she was my sister, I’d tell her to get a good prenup. Kate’s not just going into a marriage, she’s going into a business.”
The Mirror reports Kate and William did not do a prenup and “no legally binding document was drawn up before the wedding to safeguard the future king’s wealth or ensure Kate is maintained in a certain lifestyle if they do ever split.”
The Daily Mail noted that neither Charles and Diana nor Andrew and Fergie had a prenup. We know to never say never, but Kate and William are as rock solid as they come.
Royal Family News: Kate is Battling Cancer
The Prince and Princess of Wales have been married 13 years and have three adorable children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Marie Claire reports that Kate is “genuinely touched” by all that William has done for her as she undergoes preventative chemotherapy.
This year Kate has made two public appearances as she continues to convalesce at home.
