It would almost seem impossible for someone like Meghan, who is now a member of the British monarchy, to want to switch gears and run for office. But that’s what the rumor mill has been suggesting lately, despite the strange timing of it all.
According to Harper’s Bazaar Magazine, Meghan once told Piers Morgan in an interview that she either wants to one day become a broadcaster like him or President of the United States. Clearly, she was joking, but some people didn’t take it that way. As a matter of fact, one journalist even brought it up, forcing reps for Kensington Palace to shut down the rumor.
A palace rep responded with, “The conversation you describe with an associate is fictitious.”
Meanwhile, additional reports indicate that Meghan is looking to become a U.K. citizen, but the process takes about three years. The Duchess of Sussex hasn’t made any comments on whether or not she plans on keeping her American citizen or if she’s looking to become a dual citizen of both countries.

Either way, it looks like Meghan is enjoying her new life as a royal and a newlywed. She and her husband Prince Harry made their first post-wedding appearance together to help celebrate Prince Charles’ 70th birthday earlier this week. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot in front of 200 special guests at Windsor Castle last Saturday.
