Ex-Soldier Isn’t Surprised By Prince Harry’s Decision – Reportedly ‘At Ease’ While Away From Royal Life

The world expressed shock when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their decision to step down from their royal positions. However, there was one person who wasn’t surprised. That is former soldier James Wharton. The 32-year-old reportedly served with the Duke of Sussex. Find out what he had to say about the situation.

At Ease When Away From Royal Life

While some people are more relaxed in their home surroundings, it seems the opposite was true for Harry. Wharton told Forces Network that Harry always seemed “at ease” when he was away from his “other life.”

This could be for several reasons. Not everyone loves being in the spotlight. Some prefer to handle things behind the scenes and crave privacy. This very well could be the case for Harry, although it is just speculation.

Prince Harry Protective and Private

It is stated that Harry is highly protective of his wife and their 8-month-old son, Archie. In fact, it was suggested that the Duke of Sussex is a protective man in general. Wharton also explained that the young man is also quite private.

He is also remembered for standing up to those who harassed or bullied others while in the military. “I know that he’s protective of people he cares about, so I think he will be okay. I have no doubt, whatever he goes off to do, he’ll be successful at it.”

Military Charity and Community Service

There are a lot of details that are still being discussed in regards to Harry and Meghan stepping down from their senior positions within the Royal Family. However, Wharton believes that Harry’s charity work to serve the military community and their families will continue.

“I think he will keep a close bond with the military, I think the work he does with things like Invictus is really important… He’s well respected for it within the community of the Armed Forces and outside of it. The Armed Forces is so strong that I’m absolutely certain his role and relationship with the military will continue.”

Queen Elizabeth ‘Very Supportive’

Despite early reports that the Royal Family was hurt and disappointed by the announcement, Queen Elizabeth’s statement proves otherwise. She wrote that the entire Royal Family is very supportive of the couple’s dream to live a life of independence. Even though they are separating from the Royals, she maintains that they will remain close as a family unit.

In addition to stepping down, Harry and Meghan will be spending half the year in the United Kingdom and the other half in Canada.
