Kelly Caira is a stylist at House of Colour and she thinks that Meghan’s fashion picks are designed to show off her best asset, her shoulders. The cheeky stylist notes that Meghan Markle’s “penchant for strapless dresses was evident long before she married into the Royal Family.”

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Caira added that “Since relocating to California with Prince Harry, Meghan’s wardrobe has undergone a noticeable transformation.”

This is seen in the actress’s dump of formal dress and a return to her showgirl look: “bold, décolletage-baring dresses.” Meghan herself has complained about the clothes she wore during her time in the monarchy, saying that she was forced to wear beige.

As if striking back at that dictum, Meghan stood out in a gold lacquer sheath by Johanna Ortiz when she received the Hertz Award for glamour in 2023. Notably, Meghan reportedly cut off the straps, resulting in a unique look.

Caira thinks this is ok given that “Meghan is blessed with a slender shape and beautiful shoulders and arms, which are given absolute focus in a strapless outfit.”

Caira celebrates Meghan’s fashion quirk, saying that “In a harsh world where everyone is quick to criticise, Meghan lets her confidence shine through with the simplicity of the silhouette and lack of adornment. She is enough!”

The outlet points out that Meghan has been dressing like this since her high school days when she wore a baby blue gown to prom in 1998.

In the years that followed, Meghan continued to flaunt her shoulders in an array of strapless outfits, particularly while attending red carpet events as an actress. If it ain’t broke, why fix it? Maybe that’s why Meghan wore another strapless casing last week to her benefactor Tyler Perry’s event.

Last Wednesday Tyler Perry was honored as a cinematic visionary for fare such as Boo! A Madea Halloween, at The Paley Honors gala in Beverly Hills. Meghan was a vision as she stormed the red carpet in a “black Oscar de la Renta gown with a … daring front slit.”

Meghan accentuated her look with “her signature Cartier ‘Love’ bracelet” rumored to be a gift from her husband before Prince Harry, Trevor Engelson. According to Caira, all of this adds up to “the image she would like to create – sophisticated, glamorous and fully in control.”

Caira didn’t mention the Tomato Dress, as it’s been dubbed by fashionistas and maybe that’s just as well.

It’s considered to be one of Meghan’s fashion flops, a Carolina Herrerra flame red frock that Meghan took scissors to, slicing the front opening down to there. She wore it to a past Invictus event and again this year to a children’s charity event. She looked demure.
