Harry And Meghan Markle Go After Facebook – Getting Too Political

Some fans of the British Royal family are wondering why Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appear to be getting uber political these days. After all, as the official website of the British monarchy states, “As Head of State, The Queen has to remain strictly neutral with respect to political matters, unable to vote or stand for election, however Her Majesty does have important ceremonial and formal roles in relation to the government of the UK.”

Other members of The Firm likewise are traditionally silent on political matters, but apparently Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are again breaking tradition. Of course, fans might argue that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are able to be as politically active as they please considering the fact that they stepped down as senior members of the Royal Family. Moreover, Meghan Markle remains an American citizen and the couple currently reside in Los Angeles.

Still, the fact that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle seem to have found a bully pulpit from which to scream their opinions due to the notoriety they now have as “rebel” Royals, doesn’t sit well with many. For example, with the fact that both Meghan and Prince Harry have signed with the New York-based Harry Walker Agency, which books celebrity-speaking engagements around the world, Prince Harry is likely to begin opining on issues related to the environment. Indeed, Prince Harry may even go the route of Greta Thunberg and push his deeply held belief that the human race only has 12 more years before we all go extinct.

For her part, Meghan Markle is expected to deliver speeches related to social justice, gender equality, and other political topics that are trending on Twitter. Both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reported to command at least $1 Million each per speaking engagement.

Now, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are taking their newfound political star power and are using to support a boycott against Facebook during the month of July. Using the hashtag #stophateforprofit, Prince Harry and Meghan have hopped on the politically expedient “let’s pile on Facebook” trend that’s currently sweeping America.

Ostensibly, the campaign that Prince Harry and Meghan are now supporting suggests that it is “asking all businesses to stand in solidarity with our most deeply held American values of freedom, equality, and justice and not advertise on Facebook’s services in July.” According to the campaign’s website, they accuse Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg of allowing “incitement to violence against protesters fighting for racial justice in America in the wake of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, Ahmaud Arbery, Rayshard Brooks and so many others.”

The problem is that the campaign, which Prince Harry and Meghan apparently haven’t really studied, doesn’t give any clear definition for “hate speech.”

Indeed, many are now accusing the campaign and Harry and Meghan of simply getting in on a power grab by the Left in America since no groups that are “left-leaning” are named as supporters of “hate speech.”

In stark contrast, Harry and Meghan appear to be turning a blind eye to the fact that publications like “The Daily Caller” and “Breitbart News” are castigated by the campaign due to “known associations with white nationalists” … although there are no references as to which white nationalist organizations or individuals these publications are tied to.

(Apparently, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle believe that Antifa and Black Lives Matter should get a blanket pass when it comes to “hate speech” even though there is evidence both groups have supported blatantly anti-Semitic policies and activities.)

The bottom line here is that it doesn’t matter which side of the political divide Meghan and Harry find themselves on personally. Many fans of both Prince Harry and Meghan have zero problems with the fact that they each may have their own, private, deeply held views.

However, when two people such as Meghan and Harry are well known to have made a gigantic deal out of their need for privacy and solitude, it seems a contradiction in terms, and in more than bad taste, for them to come out swinging for their pet political causes.

Indeed, at least half of America might be ready to beg the Crown to take the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, its prodigal son, and daughter-in-law, straight back into the fold. For these fans, Harry and Meghan can talk as much as they like over tea and crumpets at Frogmore Cottage or elsewhere … as long as they do it far from America’s shores.
