Harry & Meghan On Netflix Gets #AbolishTheMonarchy Trending

Harry & Meghan premiered on Netflix last week, and the docuseries got a lot of people spitting mad. Actually, those people now clash with fans of the former royal couple who think that it’s time to abolish the monarchy in the UK. So,  #AbolishTheMonarchy started trending on Twitter. Is this a nightmare coming true for King Charles?

Harry & Meghan Came Ahead Of King Charles’ Coronation

It must be an extremely difficult time for the new monarch, who still grieves for his mom, Queen Elizabeth. Prince Harry and his wife seem to get daily headlines, and it’s actually a bit sad in retrospect that William’s brother marched along at his grandmother’s funeral looking so solemn. After all, the world saw him looking amused when the docuseries showed his wife mocking the way people bowed to his grandmother. Obviously, he knew that would be in the Netflix show. 

Harry & Meghan cause a furor and there’s more to come with the prince’s book, “Spare” dropping in the new year. While critics accuse them of trying to make money off the royal family at any cost, anti-monarchists love the couple. Actually, it seems that rumored fears that the public might turn away from the monarchy seem to be playing out. In fact, the hardships in the UK seem to make people turn their back on The Firm ahead of the coronation, and the docuseries just flames that fire. 

Harry & Meghan Spark #AbolishTheMonarchy Trend

There are thousands of comments and posts under the hashtag, #AbolishTheMonarchy on Twitter. When @MarleyBoo1 tweeted about abolishing the monarchy, the post’s caption asked, “What has the British Royal Family done for you lately?” Then the tweeter added, “How has King Charles, Consort Camilla, William & Kate enhanced your life?”

Talking about the recession and the lack of electricity in the UK, the poster also opined, “Meanwhile the nation struggles to buy food and pay utility bills. The rich get richer and the poor…”

That Harry & Meghan gave the anti-monarchists a platform, seems obvious. No doubt a lot of people can relate to that sort of tweet. After all, times are unusually hard in the country. Additionally, many people hate that certain members of the royal family push the Climate Change agenda. And, they don’t like to suffer hardship for Ukraine, either. Any search on Twitter will reveal plenty of comments about those issues. 

Commenters Speak Out Against The Monarchy

Several royal family authors spoke about the possibility that Harry & Meghan could put King Charles between rock and a hard place. Sooner or later, he will have to say something about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. After all, it becomes evident that they turn people against The Firm. 

The comments on the Twitter post indicate it might already be too late. Cecilia K wrote, “Honestly and truthfully the royal family is useless they are just there to take taxpayers money. Please ask yourself what [is] the benefit [of] a Monarchy?”

Conversely, some people noted that the cost of the monarchy really isn’t all that different from supporting a king. So, it’s not like the entire county is against the monarchy. However, it’s unlikely that the Netflix show will make more people want to sign up for living under a royal family.
