In today’s age, most people spend their time indoors, glued on the screens of their mobile phones, laptops, computers or televisions. This is what Kate Middleton, along with two other designers, is trying to change.
Kate is working with landscape architects Andree Davies and Adam White on the Royal Horticultural Society’s official garden at the Chelsea Flower Show this coming May.
In a Twitter post, Kensington Palace said that the project aims to “highlight the benefits of the great outdoors and inspire children, families and communities to get back to nature.”
White shared that the design they have come up with is much about their childhood memories of being outdoors and exploring nature. He adds that Kate has been very hands-on for the project, and the Duchess would often show up with a folder of her cuttings, full of ideas.

The 37-year-old royal has also been an advocate of mental health, so the project is also geared towards promoting the nature for a healthy well-being.
“There is so much research around at the moment that shows being outdoors with nature is good for your mental health, and that is a big part of the Duchess’ public work,” Davies said.
Davies added that Princess Kate also wants to use natural elements in the wood-themed garden, which is in line with sustainability and re-using materials.
Moreover, she also wants the garden to enable anyone to take something away from it and perhaps create it themselves. “I think people will be surprised,” White said.
The garden’s design will be revealed on February 11, at the RHS Chelsea press conference, according the RHS’ official Twitter page. Middleton, Davies and White will continue with their collaboration projects even after the RHS Chelsey. They will work on another garden at the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, a permanent garden at RHS Wisley in Surrey, and at another NHS garden.
