If there’s one thing that Prince William and Kate Middleton like to do year after year it’s escape the summer heat in London and head to the ultra-private Caribbean island of Mustique with their kids. And yes, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are leaving the European heat wave behind again this year for a more comfortable summer break in the cool, tropical island waters and some fun in the sun with their three children. Here’s what you need to know.
Mustique Vacation
According to Vogue, Prince William and Kate Middleton have jetted off to their tranquil getaway with 6-year-old Prince George, 4-year-old Princess Charlotte and 1-year-old Prince Louis. It’s an annual tradition for the Cambridges. Not only do they get to sometimes travel with the Middletons, but they also get to have a second birthday celebration for their son George, who just turned 6 earlier in the week. Even before Kate Middleton married Prince William, she and her parents and siblings enjoyed visiting Mustique for their annual holiday, too.
This summer break also gives Prince William and Kate Middleton an opportunity to relax and unwind from their hectic year-long schedule of royal engagements and public appearances. Back in 2018, the couple enjoyed a well-documented date night out at Basil’s Bar, which is the one and only famed watering hole on the island. They were also spotted partying with none other than Mick Jagger, who also has a home on the island.
These two photographs were taken recently in the gardens at Kensington Palace by The Duchess of Cambridge.

Royal Getaway
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge love Mustique so much that they also traveled to the island in 2013 and 2015 for their babymoons. While there’s no doubt that they love the white sand beaches and turquoise waters, the Cambridges also get to enjoy plenty of privacy. That’s because the island has a strict no-fly zone which means that visitors can enjoy their holiday break without the intrusive paparazzi nearby.
With that said, Prince George and Kate Middleton aren’t the only members of the British royal family who love Mustique. It’s been reported that Princess Margaret also regularly visits the island, as she owns a 10-acre parcel of land that she once received as a wedding present.
