While everyone likes to give their grandparents cute nicknames in their families, it looks like Prince William is no different. He might be the future King of England, but that doesn’t mean he can’t call his grandmother by an endearing name of goof around once in a while.
As a matter of fact, Prince William’s nickname for Queen Elizabeth makes us love their relationship even more! Here’s what you need to know.
According to the Daily Mail, royal columnist Richard Kaye explained that when Prince William was a little boy, he had a hard time saying Granny whenever he was around Queen Elizabeth. He also fell down at Buckingham Palace.
Young Prince William Called Out For Someone Named Gary When He Fell
After he tripped, he called out for someone by the name of Gary, but unfortunately, no one knew who he was talking about. The Queen then appeared and explained that she was this mysterious Gary that Prince William was looking for. Apparently, she didn’t mind having him call her Gary and that was because he had a hard time saying Granny.
Now, no one knows if Prince William still calls Queen Elizabeth Gary today, although it would be rather cute if he did! The rest of the royal family, including Prince Harry, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, all call their grandmother Granny. We are sure that Queen Elizabeth probably had other nicknames, too.
Prince William Has A Great Relationship With His Grandmother
With that said, it’s great to see that Prince William has such a great relationship with his grandmother behind the scenes.
Not only is the Queen of England an inspiration and a role model to so many people all over the world, but within her own family, too. Plus, it’s great to see that she has such a great sense of humor!
