When the Princess of Wales shared her cancer diagnosis with the world, a lot of people were shocked to see that she was sitting on a bench by her side and that her husband Prince William was nowhere near her. Well, it was Kate’s idea to film her video solo.
One source close to the situation told the Sunday Times, “She didn’t need anyone sitting next to her. She did it with his full support and advice, he joined all the conversations around it. On every level, he wishes she didn’t have to do it. But it was her decision, it wasn’t begrudged and he fully supported it.”

That said though, the Princess of Wales certainly didn’t exclude her husband altogether. During her message, she did thank the future king of England for being her rock as the two of them continue to navigate their new lives together with her cancer battle.
Kate said in her message, “This of course came as a huge shock. And William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.”
It’s also been reported that Prince William has curbed his royal engagements and public announcements just so he could take care of his wife and the couple’s three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis at home.
So far Kate Middleton herself has made no additional comments about the matter.
