Here’s Why Meghan Markle Didn’t Wear A Hat With The Queen

Meghan Markle might be learning the ropes while adjusting to her new life as a royal, but clearly there are certain things that she’s still doing her way. In fact, many fans and critics alike can’t help but wonder why the new Duchess of Sussex didn’t wear a hat during her outing with Queen Elizabeth last week.

After all, Queen Elizabeth almost always wears a hat during her royal engagements and public appearances. The same can be said about the Duchess of Cambridge, who has been perfecting her hat game in recent months, too. Some fashionistas even call it the most important royal accessory, but it’s one that Meghan clearly didn’t put on during her first solo appearance with the Queen in Chester this week.

Yet, according to People Magazine, Meghan apparently didn’t wear a hat simply because she attended a church service with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip as part of their day out to the Midlands of England. She didn’t want to have to worry about taking the hat on and off or worse, deal with hat hair in public.

Of course, it’s not like other members of the British royal family haven’t gone hatless in the past before. Back in 2012, both Kate Middleton and Camilla Parker Bowles both didn’t wear a hat during an outing to Fortnum and Mason’s store in London. The Queen, meanwhile, did, simply because she likes to follow her own traditions.
