Hints Of Voting In The Next Election: Meghan Markle Breaks Royal Tradition

As most who keep abreast of any news concerning the British Royal Family knows, Meghan Markle hasn’t ever been one to keep the tradition. Now, reports suggest that Meghan is set to break even more conventions as she hints that she may vote in America’s upcoming presidential election on November 3, 2020.

Indeed, in a very public statement to Marie Claire magazine, Meghan Markle said, “I know what it’s like to have a voice, and also what it’s like to feel voiceless. I also know that so many men and women have put their lives on the line for us to be heard.”

Meghan continued, stating that, “… that fundamental right is in our ability to exercise our right to vote and to make all of our voices heard. One of my favorite quotes, and one that my husband and I have referred to often, is from Kate Sheppard, a leader in the suffragist movement in New Zealand, who said ‘Do not think your single vote does not matter much. The rain that refreshes the parched ground is made up of single drops. That is why I vote.”

Meghan May Or May Not Break Tradition

One thing worth noting here is that while British tabloids breathlessly gush about the possibility that Meghan Markle might flaunt the Royal tradition of remaining non-partisan, the Duchess of Sussex hasn’t actually come out and blatantly said that she will vote. Meghan Markle certainly hasn’t said for whom she will vote if she does indeed go to the ballot box. Therefore, there is the possibility that while Meghan may encourage American women to get out and vote … she might not actually cast a ballot herself.

On the other hand, it’s pretty clear who Meghan Markle would likely vote for based on the views she’s expressed quite publicly throughout the media. With that said, many within the U.S. and in the U.S. will look down on what will be yet another case of Meghan Markle giving the finger to the British Royal Family’s policy of remaining strictly non-partisan.

Meghan Has Political Ambitions

Of course, may feel that Meghan might be talking about voting and getting involved in all kinds of political activities because she, herself, has plans on running for office one day. Indeed, this might actually be the case considering the fact that Meghan once had ambitions for working within the U.S. State Department.

In fact, according to the new book, “Finding Freedom,” written by co-authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, Meghan “took the Foreign Service Officer Test, a prerequisite for a job as a State Department officer. When she didn’t pass the highly competitive test, she was extremely disappointed. She wasn’t used to failing. It was a major blow to her confidence she had always tried to protect.”

Regardless of that, some believe Meghan actually intends to run for the presidency of the United States one day. However, there are a plethora of hurdles the duchess will have to overcome if she ever decides to do that.
