Prince Andrew, oh I mean Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, must have cultivated a lot of bad fortunes in his previous life for one of Netflix’s most popular shows, ‘The Crown,’ to want to adapt what is undoubtedly the most shameful period of his life for the screen.
You think ‘Scoop,’ which was inspired by his disastrous Newsnight interview, stung? Hollywood is in a race to see who comes out at the top to cover Andrew’s most embarrassing life moments.
Popcorn, anyone?
Netflix Wants To Cover Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s “Unprecedented” Week
How many times has a former royal been arrested on their birthday? Not many times, I’d wager.
For this reason, the happening was a dramatic one that sent ripples out into the world. In fact, Andrew’s post-arrest picture was hung inside Louvre museum – oh the memes it created.
Now? This moment could possibly be immortalized in the way of an Emmy-winning royal drama ‘The Crown.’ I’d say Andrew would be wary of that, but at this point, I doubt his reputation can be sunk any lower. I don’t really know, the man’s full of nasty surprises, isn’t he?
“The events of last week are historic and unprecedented,” an insider told Daily Mail, referring to the former Prince’s arrest on Feb. 19.
“There have been discussions for some time with Left Bank Pictures, which owns the rights to ‘The Crown,’ for a series of one-off specials about royal scandals and dramas,” the source added of the show that ran for six seasons on Netflix.
“‘The Crown’ as a series has ended but the name will live on. There have been advanced talks about doing a limited series, under ‘The Crown’ banner, about the Andrew saga which is as dramatic, if not more dramatic, than anything shown in the original series which included episodes on the abdication and the death of Diana.”
Perhaps ‘The Crown’ is already working on new material, or they’re still waiting to see what new scandals emerge. Remember Andrew is still being investigated for misconduct in the public office. We wonder if we’ll hear whoever will be playing Andrew onscreen say stomach-churning lines like “I was too honorable” to ditch late convicted pedophile, Jeffrey Epstein.
