British royal family news reveals that before her divorce and tragic death, Princess Diana hit out at her husband’s mistress, calling her the “third” person in her marriage.
Times change, and now the third wheel is the Queen, and Diana was taken way too early in a Paris car accident.
But before her passing, Diana’s revenge on Camilla Parker-Bowles included a certain dress, according to one royal expert. Keep reading to find out what this scandal is all about!
Royal News – The Revenge Dress
Tina Brown wrote “The Palace Papers: Inside the House of Windsor–the Truth and the Turmoil” and has covered the royals for decades.
She claims that the late Princess of Wales tried to provoke her rival, wanting her to go “insane,” by wearing a polyester dress with polka dots.
The New York Post reports that Brown claims that in 1985 Princess Diana purposely wore a certain dress at the 1985 Live Aid concert in an attempt to lash out at Camilla.
Royal Family News – Diana’s Wardrobe Revenge
Brown explains that the dress was designed by Dale “Kanga” Tryon, an Australian designer who caught Charles’ eye to the point that he uttered that she was “the only woman who ever understood me.”
Royal Family News – The King and His Court
Brown wrote in her book that Camilla was not pleased with Tryon, who boldly asked Charles to be the godfather of her child. To be fair, few women would welcome Charles’ comment about being understood solely by another woman!
Brown wrote that back in the day, Tryon had a line of dresses called the ‘Kanga line’ and gifted Princess Diana with a blue polyester dress in order to get under Camilla’s skin.
Royal Family News – Diana And Camilla Rivalry
Brown wrote “Princess Diana wore one of her deeply off-brand, multi-patterned dresses…just to make Camilla insane.” Did it work? According to Brown, Camilla’s “disposition toward Tryon turned even colder following Diana’s stunt.”
After Diana and Charles divorced in 1996, “Tryon later fell apart after Charles and Parker Bowles started their affair.” King Charles and Queen Camilla married in 2005. Tryon died of sepsis in 1997 at the age of 49.
