Royal Family News – Camilla, Duchess Of Cornwall Is Married To Prince Charles
The Duchess of Cornwall and Charles were recorded reading extracts of Charles Dickens’ legendary work A Christmas Carol. The recordings will be posted on social media and run through the 12 days of Christmas.
The series will begin on Christmas Day and are broadcast via @DuchessofCornwallsReadingRoom on Instagram. Prince Charles begins the readings about the tale of geezer Ebenezer Scrooge who rediscovers the magic of Christmas.
The Duchess of Cornwall’s Reading Room, an online literary hub, debuted in January 2021. It was inspired by the success of the duchess’s reading lists which she shared during the pandemic lockdown in 2020. It offers book recommendations and exclusive insight from the authors themselves.
Miriam Margolyes, Paterson Joseph, Sir Derek Jacobi, Simon Callow, Stephen Mangan and Bridgette Amofah also taped readings.

According to Town and Country magazine, the Dickens Museum has generously created a PDF version of A Christmas Carol which can be download for free on The Duchess of Cornwall’s Reading Room. Readers can enjoy the tale on their own or read along at home with the narrators.
In a video about the series of readings the duchess said, “A Christmas Carol is a story which in so many ways begun Christmas as we know it today. It follows themes of love, kindness, compassion and tolerance, and it speaks to the heart.”
Prince Charles can be heard encouraging listeners to join him and Camilla as they, together with, “a little help from some friends,” savor Charles Dickens’ “wonderful story.”

Additionally Camilla said that she hoped listeners would join them on the, “literary journey … May it haunt your houses pleasantly and may we wish each and every one of you a very happy Christmas.”
Charles and Camilla are determined that newly widowed Queen Elizabeth will not be alone on Christmas Day. A Clarence House spokesman said yesterday that they will join the queen on Saturday at Windsor Castle.
