Is Meghan, Duchess Of Sussex The True Victim?

Is Meghan, Duchess Of Sussex The True Victim?British royal family news reveals that Meghan Sussex of Markle’s Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, has been roundly savaged after it’s March premiere.

The cookery/lifestyle series showed Meghan hosting B-listers and offering up bizarre hosting tips such as tricking guests with cheap pretzels.

Netflix airs the remaining shows this fall. Will anyone be watching?

Not judging by the harsh and unforgiving reviews by social media and critics alike: UK’s cooking goddess Mary Berry panned the desperation show and an Irish priest suggested it be watched as a form of penance.

Meghan’s WLM Series Rejected

The show was ripped as being out of touch, and endless memes and TikToks roasted Meghan’s on-screen demeanor which included being rude to Mindy Kaling for daring to call her by her given name. Yep, Meghan Markled herself by demanding to be called Meghan Sussex. The assimilation is real.

Leslie Gray Streeter, a writer at The Baltimore Banner, told Morning Edition host Michel Martin that she knows why people hate Meghan.

The real reason she said, is “racism and jealousy that is couched in racism and a little classism and just, you know, basically being mad that people have things that we might want that we don’t have. And then racism.”

Why People Reject Meghan?

Martin asked if she is sure that is the reason, and Streeter responded “The response to her has always been couched in race. And I think that in this thing, it kind of shocks people, even though you know at this point she’s royalty and that she is very wealthy.

She was a successful actress who was a millionaire before she even married Prince Harry. But seeing her having a soft life, having a life where she can be at leisure to have bees in her backyard and make fruit rainbows and balloon arches, seems like that’s the final straw. Something about that offends people.”

Does Meghan Offend You?

Martin then asked what constitutes a soft life and why it is triggering. According to Streeter: “the soft life part comes with money and it comes with money to buy the time to do that.

And that is not something I think that women of African descent are expected to have. The idea of what black femininity is is not that.”

Martin referenced an article written by his guest, asking why she thinks people want her to make the duchess “smaller.”

According to NPR, the writer responded: “all women and I think particularly women of color – are expected to be self-deprecating, to not take too much credit, lest we be called arrogant or intimidating.”
