Is Prince Charles A Cheapskate For Wanting To Fire Some Of The Working Royals?

Prince CharlesIf he has his way, Prince Charles will fire a few members of his family as working royals. For years it has been said that he wants to eliminate the fat, so to speak, in the Monarchy. Charles the Ripper’s anticipated slimming down of The Firm has its detractors as one might expect, with one royal watcher predicting a dire outcome.

So, which members of his family might get the ax? The names most often mentioned are Prince Andrew’s daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, the latter of whom has just announced that she and her husband Jack Brooksbank are pregnant.

It could very well be that Charles’s plan is put in place after he succeeds his mother Queen Elizabeth II on the throne.

Will Prince Charles Give Some Family Members A Pink Slip?

In addition to cutting down on payroll, the prince could potentially sell off some royal real estate—we’re talking properties that the family has owned for centuries. But in the midst of talk about Charles’ downsizing, one royal expert has cautioned that such moves could threaten their “legitimacy.”

Bob Morris wrote The Role of Monarchy in Modern Democracy and he says, “Reducing the size of a royal family too far could inadvertently, or deliberately, remove an important part of its rationale and whittle away at its legitimacy?”

If Charles does slash the budget, it would bring reminders of the move made by King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden who removed several members from the Royal House in 2019.

Is The British Royal Family Hard At Work Or Hardly Working?

Morris’ book has proposed that the British Royal Family are among the hardest-working yet cheapest among their fellow European royals.

According to the study cited, only the Royal Families from Spain and Belgium cost less per head of population. Additionally to their credit, the British Royal Family carry out far more engagements than their European counterparts.

Comparing figures for 2017-18, the taxpayer money used to pay for the official activities of the Royal Family stood at £76.1 million, or £1.14 per person.

In contrast, Belgium was 95p per head, while Spain was 16p per head, but that is partly due to the fact that only the King and Queen in those countries carry out official engagements.

Meanwhile, Sweden costs the same as Britain, while Denmark (£1.75) and the Netherlands (£1.95) are slightly more expensive. Based on these figures do you think that Charles should go on a cost-cutting spree?

Well both princesses of York are not working Royals, the only other people he can cut is The Princess Royal, The Earl and Countess of Wessex which would be most unfortunate as the Princess Royal is one of the hardest working Royal and the Countess is also taking on so much more to help the Queen, only good thing is we got rid of the two TRAITORS
