British royal family news reveals that Princess Catherine was present for Remembrance events in London this past weekend. She had been sidelined from royal duty prior to completing a course of preventative chemotherapy this summer.
The sight of the royals on the Buckingham Palace balcony reminded one royal expert just how thin the royal audience has become.
Ailsa Anderson was Queen Elizabeth’s former press secretary and she told People that seeing the scene on the balcony “brought it home to me how slimmed down the monarchy is.”
The Monarchy Has Thinned Out
Anderson went on to say that it won’t be long before Catherine and Prince William’s son, Prince George, joins his parents for more royal events on the famed balcony. The Wales’ have three children, 11-year-old George, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.

Remembrance Day is observed in the UK on the second Sunday in November. In years past Prince William has been on the ground at The Cenotaph war memorial and Kate has been on the Foreign Office balcony as ceremonial events took place.
Speaking of the BP balcony, Anderson notes that “I’m sure there will be a time in the not-too-distant future when Prince George will be up there.”
George will follow William as king, after William completes his reign after taking over from his father King Charles.

Royal fans were heartened to see Kate as she made her return to public duty this weekend at Royal Albert Hall.
According to Anderson “She was clearly appreciative of the reception she got … She looked happy and relaxed. She must be fully aware that people might have noticed any show of discomfort, but she was glowing, actually.”
Kate has not missed a Remembrance Sunday event since marrying into the royal family in 2011.
William recently shared that this year has been a difficult one, with both Kate and King Charles being diagnosed with cancer. Queen Camilla was missing from the traditional observances due to suffering with a chest infection.

Anderson added that with Catherine being out of the picture most of the year “I hope it is a reassuring message that things are slowly getting back to a semblance of normality.”
