The Princess Of Wales – Title Has Been Around For Centuries
Back in 2019, the subject of anyone holding the same title as Lady Diana Spencer when she was married to Charles, was discussed at some length. Of course, back then, Queen Elizabeth was still alive. Theorists believed that Prince William might never become the Prince of Wales, a title that his dad held. However, three years on, it seems natural that he inherited the title.
On September 8, King Charles confirmed that he gave the title of The Princess of Wales to Kate Middleton. And, she didn’t inherit it from the Queen Consort, Camilla Parker-Bowles. Recall, that she didn’t feel it was apt to use it, especially as she wasn’t half as popular as she is now. Perhaps, she felt that dragging her former competitor’s title around was just not the done thing. Mind you the title has been around for centuries.
The Princess of Wales – Is Kate’s Title ‘Stunning?’
When the news broke, Page Six produced an article about it. In the article, they didn’t mention anything “stunning” about the announcement. However, they did use the word on Instagram. And, they labored the point that Charles’ first wife, Lady Diana held the title. Certainly, she wasn’t the first one. In fact, the wife of the heir-apparent has used the title since the 14th century.
The outlet’s caption on Instagram said, “#KateMiddleton has been named the Princess of Wales, a title previously held by the late Princess Diana. King Charles III made the stunning title change announcement in his first public address since Queen Elizabeth II’s death.” Well, people hated that use of the word “stunning,” and slammed the outlet.
Royal Family – Fans Slap At ‘Stunning’ Description
Some folks didn’t like that the story about Kate Middleton becoming The Princess of Wales seemed sensationalized by the use of the word, “stunning.” One follower complained, “Why stunning? This was expected, your highness is following a century protocol 😒.”
Another follower asked, “Hasn’t this protocol been around for centuries or something? None of these things are a shock.”
Another follower wrote, “Why is it “stunning”?? This is the normal title upgrade in the British monarchy. When a new King or Queen ascends the throne, everyone moves up.”
Actually, they are all correct. Did you know that Lady Diana certainly wasn’t the first person to ever use the title? Sound off in the comments below.

I think we do Diana a disservice to make her the sum of a title. Yes, she was Diana Princess of Wales, Kate will be Kate Princess of Wales, its not like she’s calling herself Diana! The late Queen not only took the title Queen but there had been a previous Elizabeth, no one had a problem with that! Diana always knew Williams wife and the mother of her grandchildren would have one day been the Princess of Wales, if titles had meant that much to Diana she would have hung on like a headhunting, social climbing nitwit to become Queen Consort but she was above such things and put finding true love first. Diana can never be replaced in the hearts of those who love her, it doesn’t matter who takes the title Princess of Wales. As for Charles, I think he’s just trying to please his family, I mean he’s trying to help Harry and Meghan even though they must have made the Queens final days very distressing what with another nasty interview and then declining to visit his grandmother, who everyone could tell didn’t have much time left.
The “Diana Similarities” are not only disrespectful, but ghoulish.
Princess Catherine (of Wales) is NOT the next Diana, Peoples’ Princess, nor is she walking in her shadow.
Catherine Princess of Wales is not the next…. but the ORIGINAL first.
Harry and is wife don’t deserve any royal treatment on money!!!. I believe that Harry is not even king Charles lll real son!!!.
