ITV Announces Sit-down With Prince Harry Over Phone Hacking Case

ITV Announces Sit-down With Prince Harry Over Phone Hacking CaseWhat does Prince William and Prince Harry currently have in common apart from being royal brothers? They’re both working on a program for ITV.

While William has opted to shed light on his ongoing work to end homelessness, Harry wants to open up about the reason he’s embroiled in so many legal battles against different UK publishers.

Prince Harry Plans To Talk About How “Extensive” Phone Hacking Has Affected His Life In New Interview

In what has been proclaimed Harry’s first major interview since the conclusion of his court case against Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN) in February, the Duke will hopefully be telling us why his job as a “dragon slayer” is important.

“Dragon slayer,” of course, is the term he used to celebrate his win against Mirror Group Newspapers earlier this year. He was able to prove in lawsuit that several articles written about him were gotten as a result of phone hacking and use of private investigators for unlawful activities.

In December, he was awarded £140,600 after Mr Justice Fancourt found that the Prince’s privacy has indeed been impeded upon by “extensive” phone hacking. The trial found that 15 articles were written with information gotten through illegal and unworthy means.

Following the victory, Harry’s barrister, David Sherborne, shared a statement from Harry, saying, “We have uncovered and proved the shockingly dishonest way in which the Mirror acted for so many years, and then sought to conceal the truth.”

“Our mission continues. I believe in the positive change it will bring for all of us. It is the very reason why I started this, and why I will continue to see it through to the end.”

Everything We Know About Prince Harry’s Upcoming Interview With ITV

However, we’re about to be getting more than a statement from the 39-year-old soon. According to a press release by ITV, the upcoming interview interview will walk fans through the reason he has chosen to legally fight different UK publishers.

“Featuring Prince Harry’s first major interview since the conclusion of his court case with Mirror Group Newspapers, this documentary hears about his mission to continue his fight to expose the illegal tactics of Britain’s tabloid press and explores what those in charge at Fleet Street really knew as this scandal unfolded.”

It added: “ITV News’s Rebecca Barry meets high-profile celebrities including Hugh Grant, Charlotte Church and Paul Gascoigne as well as people catapulted into the public eye, whose lives were ripped apart by newspapers.”
