Kate Middleton and Prince William are now happily married with three kids. What many people don’t know is that they had this secret pact to marry each other after they got back together.

Yes, that’s right. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge broke up in 2007. At that time, it seemed as though they’d be going on separate ways. Fortunately, they didn’t.

The pair rekindled their romance and agreed to get married, according to royal expert, Katie Nicholl. In her new book called “Kate: The Future Queen,” she revealed that the couple promised to wed each other after giving their relationship another shot.

She said Kate and Prince William went off to Desroches, in the Seychelles, so they could spend time with each other. They’ve been together for years and that time, Kate wanted to know where their relationship was heading.

“There on the paradise island, William promised Kate that he was in the relationship for the long term,” Nicholl revealed.

“For the very first time, they talked seriously about marriage, and with the ocean before them and beneath the night sky, they made a pact to marry,” she continued.

Take The Pressure Off

Prince William promised Kate that they’ll be together for the rest of their lives. It seemed like they don’t want to feel any pressure. So, what they did instead was to promise each other that they’ll end up together, eventually.

Prince William said that they were both very young when they broke up.

“We were both defining ourselves as such and being different characters,” he explained.

“It was very much trying to find out way and we were growing up, it was just a bit of space – things worked out for the better,” he continued.

Kate said she wasn’t happy during that time but that experience made her a stronger person.

“You find out things about yourself that maybe you hadn’t realised, or I think you can get quite consumed by a relationship when you are younger and I really valued that time for me as well although I didn’t think it at the time,” she continued.

A Happy Family of Five

The couple met back in 2001 while they were studying at St. Andrews. The pair, now both 37 years old, got together in 2003. Their relationship blossomed while they both pursued each of their goals.

They separated back in 2007 only for a few months. She finally got a ring from Prince William in 2010 and got married the following year. Now, they have three kids namely, Prince George, six, Princess Charlotte, four, and Prince Louis, one.
