Kate Middleton Kept Her Children Close To Her Heart

Duchess Kate Middleton kept her three children close as she announced her “milestone” project that she hopes will inspire, nurture and make life better for thousands of kids. This is a long-term project that the Duchess has promised to devote her time to, equating its importance to that of climate change, but with less awareness than the other.

The project is starting small, with six staff employed at first, and will operate from the Royal Foundation’s offices in London for now.

It will focus on the early development of a child, mostly from zero to five years, as research shows that these first crucial years are important in determining the mental challenges a child faces in adulthood.

But as the Duchess aims to make the world a better place for future generations, she reminds everyone who she’s doing it for: her children and children from around the world.

The Duchess of Cambridge Launches Long-term Project

“Today I’m proud to be launching The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood — let’s embrace this golden opportunity to create a happier, more mentally healthy and more nurturing society,” the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wrote in a joint statement.

Kate Middleton has put a decade-long work into the project and seeing it come to fruition is a proud moment for the royal mom-of-three.

“[The aim is] to raise awareness of why the first five years of life are so important for our future life outcomes.”

She further added that her goal in launching the project is to create a “happier, more mentally healthy, more nurturing society”.

The project has been praised for its importance in raising a generation with fewer mental challenges like addiction, homelessness, suicide and others.

Research carried out by various groups have shown that childhood experiences contribute in large part to many mental health problems that might have been corrected with the right help.

Kate Middleton Pays Tribute To Her Children With Alphabet Necklace

In her video announcing the launch of the Royal Foundation Center for Early Childhood, Kate wore a customized Gold Midnight Moon necklace from Daniella Draper, available online for $1,400. The accessory features the initials of all three of her children: Prince George, 7, Princess Charlotte, 6 and Prince Louis, 3.

The Duchess of Cambridge has been accesorizing with the piece of jewelry since last year, when she wore it for her whirlwind 24-hour tour of the U.K., which was also part of her ongoing initiative to support the early development of children.

“The Duchess of Cambridge is an incredible role model – I look up to her as a young woman and a mother,” Draper told PEOPLE at the time. “Seeing her wearing one of my designs was a very proud moment. Everyone in the workshop thinks it’s just amazing. It’s good morale!”

“It’s a piece that I designed with myself in mind,” the designer continued. “I wear it every day, as does my my mom and sister. It’s becoming one of our best sellers and it can be personalized in so many ways.”
Duchess Kate has other customized necklaces that honor her children.

Last year, she stepped out with a gold necklace featuring three hanging pendants – but if anyone were to look closer, it’s as if the circular charms are etched with “G,” “C,” and “L.”

She also sported a similar necklace bearing her children’s initials during her mini-tour of Scotland. The tour saw Prince William and Kate Middleton pay a visit to the grounds where they first met: St. Andrews University.
