Kate Middleton Passed Over As Next Princess of Wales: Is The Title Cursed?

There is a possibility that two decades or more will pass before a Royal bride is known as the Princess of Wales. Prince William could be passed over as Prince of Wales and the title may not be granted to another heir to the throne until Prince George.

If that happens, Kate Middleton will never be Princess of Wales. Is Kate destined to be the Duchess of Cambridge until the day William becomes king?

What’s the reason the Duchess of Cambridge may never be Princess of Wales? Simply, the title is not heritable. Prince William will not automatically become Prince of Wales when Charles becomes king. Prince Charles will decide whether or not the Kate Middleton will be Princess of Wales.

Camilla Parker-Bowles is entitled to be addressed as Princess of Wales. There was public outcry when Charles and Camilla married in April 2005. Camilla made the wise choice to use Duchess of Cornwall as her official title. Does the Camilla Parker-Bowles see it as a designation that carries a curse?

Prince of Wales title goes back centuries. Prince Charles, the 21st heir to the throne to be such, is the record holder for the centuries-old honor. The Queen’s uncle, King Edward VIII, known as the Duke of Windsor upon his abdication in December 1936, preceded Charles.

The Duchess of Cambridge would be styled as Princes of Wales if Charles is inclined to honor Prince William with the designation. Or, it might be shelved until Prince William becomes king.
