Kate And William Ensure Prince George Enjoys ‘Normal’ Life

Prince George will celebrate his tenth birthday on July 22. And while the little boy makes lists of what presents he wants, his parents Prince William and Kate Middleton look to his future. But because George will one day take the throne, prepping the preteen for his royal duties sometimes feel like a “massive balancing act,” a palace insider told People.

Kate Middleton Plays Key Role In Raising Prince George: Here's Why!

And the source explained that Kate and William agreed to find a way to give George a relatively normal childhood amid helping him understand his royal future. But the insider expressed admiration for their success. And the source shared that “William and Kate are doing the right thing, protecting him so he can have as normal a childhood as possible.”

However, the royal couple also gradually has taught George about his royal duties. And Kate and William have guided their son in “dipping into duties as a future monarch. He’s getting firsthand experience of what it’s like to be a royal and a monarch and firsthand experience of being a normal boy,” summed up the source.

Prince George Became Youngest Future King In Coronation Role

During King Charles’ coronation recently, Prince George even made history. And when he became one of his grandfather’s Pages of Honor, George earned his place in the history books as the youngest future king to take on such a role. With his sister Princess Charlotte, 8, and brother Prince Louis, 5, watching in the congregation at Westminster Abbey, George won over the crowd. And a close family pal gushed, “He was terrific.”

However, before agreeing to let George take on that role, his parents debated about the pressure. But Prince William and Princess Kate, 41, agreed he could take on the role. “The service was emotional and family-oriented and very inclusive,” noted a source. “And George played his part.”

However, Kate Middleton makes sure that George enjoys a different upbringing than his father or grandfather. And that difference comes from her own childhood. Because Kate grew up outside the royal family, she knows what a normal childhood feels like. And Kate “appreciates the importance of having family time,” added an insider.

Kate Middleton Plays Key Role In Royal Kids’ Lives

As a result of her desire to spend time with her children, Kate often drives the kids to school. And she also waits at home for their return. In the evening, the family gets together to make their own dinners. A kid-friendly favorite includes pizza. And Kate has become so invested in decorating cakes with her kids that she even asked The Great British Bake Off finalist Alice Fevronia for her frosting suggestions.

But the Princess of Wales also enjoys time outside with the children. And she admitted that she feels happiest “with my family outside in the countryside, and we’re all filthy dirty. Someone did ask me the other day, what would you want your children to remember about their childhood?” she shared.

“And I thought that was a really good question,” added Kate. “Because actually if you really think about that, is it that I’m sitting down trying to do their math and spelling homework over the weekend? Or is it the fact that we’ve gone out and lit a bonfire and sat around trying to cook sausages that hasn’t worked because it’s too wet?” But although Kate joked about raising the children, a source shared that she “consciously set out to achieve a sense of normality.”
