The Duchess of Cambridge just landed a magazine cover that puts her among A-list actors and other serious stars. People magazine chose Kate Middleton for its focus, reports the News AU. Reasons for selecting Prince William’s wife include her achievements as well as her upcoming 40th birthday.

But a royal family expert, Daniela Elser, alleges that Kate’s triumph has turned into Meghan Markle’s frustration. Elser believes that the Duchess of Cambridge’s magazine cover puts “pressure” on the Duchess of Sussex. And this royal family insider even revealed the specific reason for that stress.

In the past 12 months, Middleton has starred in four People magazine covers. But while the Duchess of Cambridge beams brightly from those coveted media spotlights, Meghan hasn’t achieved a single cover featuring the Duchess of Sussex solo.

Meghan Markle Feels ‘Burning Ambition,’ Claims Royal Insider

The Duchess of Sussex seems to have acquired enough reasons to get her own major magazine cover. For instance, Meghan Markle recently welcomed her second child, re-launched her career, and dropped multiple royal family bombshells. But despite earning headlines for shockers such as slamming the royals for racism, Prince Harry’s wife hasn’t gotten her own cover.

As a result, Elser feels that the Duchess of Sussex now struggles with a “burning ambition” to outdo Kate Middleton. And while it’s highly unlikely that Meghan might achieve that before the Duchess of Cambridge celebrates her 40th birthday next month, this royal family expert believes Markle feels renewed determination to steal back the spotlight.

To date, Meghan has starred on two People magazine covers with Prince Harry. But the Duke of Sussex, in contrast, starred alone without his wife twice. Compared to Kate, Meghan seems to have failed to shine as a “dazzling public figure,” claims Elser. The royal family expert also believes that Harry has teamed up with his wife in seeking to become public leaders.

January 2022 Means Milestones For Kate, Meghan, And Harry

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Kate Middleton all will celebrate milestones in January 2022. For the Duchess of Cambridge, that means celebrating the big 4-0 on January 9. (Memo to Prince William: Please get your beloved wife a more meaningful gift than that infamous pair of binoculars you once confessed you purchased!)

But for the Duchess and Duke of Sussex, the day before Kate’s birthday holds all the meaning. January 8 marks two years since Megxit. On that date, Meghan and Harry stunned the royal family by stepping back from their duties. Since then, the couple moved first to Canada before settling in their California mansion. 

And though close to Hollywood, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex don’t seem to have achieved quite the untarnished fame the couple reportedly desired. For instance, only 40 percent of Americans polled after their Oprah Winfrey interview felt sympathy toward the duo. As for Harry’s upcoming memoir, only one in four Americans possess any desire to read it. But that figure actually tops the reaction in his homeland. Less than 15 percent of Brits admitted to wanting to check out the Duke’s autobiography.
