On Sunday, the Princess of Wales debuted her brand new blonde locks. And let’s just say that this is a brassy shade of blonde as well.

Kate Middleton hasn’t made an official public appearance with her new blonde hair just yet, but the public did get a peak of it while she was driving with her husband Prince William in the car. They were on their way to church service.

For a lot of royal fans and critics on both sides of the aisle, they believe that Kate Middleton’s new look might be an act of defiance. She’s not going to have anyone control her looks, her style, or her hair color for that matter.

She’s going to do what she wants, when she wants, and she’s going to be as blonde as she wants for that matter as well and no one is going to tell her otherwise.

Sure, this might be a ‘look at me’ moment that someone like Meghan Markle would probably orchestrate on her end, but Kate Middleton has passed that stage in her life. She doesn’t care about the looks, the whispers and the judgment. She just wants to be herself already.

After dealing with everything that life has thrown at her this last year – including her cancer battle and her chemotherapy treatment – getting blonde locks makes her feel like herself again. It’s not just a hair color, but Kate’s way of showing the world that she’s in charge of her own destiny.
