Their actual anniversary day was last Wednesday and on Sunday a composition by Paul Mealor was played. Mealor has also composed pieces for the Prince and Princess of Wales’s wedding, in addition to the King’s birthdays and Coronation.
Charles looked fit as a fiddle in a kilt and green blazer while Camilla was stunning in a green tartan dress, and sky-blue coat. She topped off her look with a jaunty red hat adorned with a feather.
Last week the royals were in Italy for an official state visit.
Charles and Camilla Are Back From Italy
The royals returned to Scotland following a week spent in Italy on a state visit. During that time the royal couple had a private audience with Pope Francis who had been under the weather recently.
Charles and Camilla were in Italy for four days during which time they gave speeches to the country’s Parliament and Palazzo del Quirinale “highlighting unity and ‘eternal friendship’” according to the Daily Mail. The royals returned home on Thursday.
Charles and Camilla Enjoy Italian Getaway
Before the couple left Italy they were pictured thoroughly enjoying their time abroad. At one point Camilla, in an ivory Anna Valentine silk coat, sampled the country’s finest wines at UK-Emilia Romagna Food Festival in the Piazza del Popolo.
As they strolled through the market in Ravenna, the royal couple sampled local delicacies including brandy and met with farmers whose land and crops were decimated by recent floods. Camilla also tried rolling pasta with a team of pasta makers.
Grabbing a rolling pin she said “I can see you need to be quite strong for this!” then went on to make impressive golden sheets that were then cut into squares.
In town Charles and Camilla were given a warm welcome by the crowd and they even stopped to pose for selfies. The late Queen Elizabeth was not a fan of selfies but Prince William seems to have converted the clan!
Charles and Camilla Take Italy by Storm
Ravenna is a region of Italy liberated from Nazi-Fascism by Allied forces 80 years ago. There Charles made conversation with Stefano Pagani who made it a point to stand up from his wheelchair to greet the monarch.
The former Second World fighter told King Charles that he is 102 and “always hungry.” The Queen spoke to 98-year-old Minny Geminiani, who was 17 when she served as a messenger during the war.
Later she said that she told Camilla: “I told her I would love to live one day as a Queen.” For now she received the next best thing, a regal queen in her own backyard!
