One royal expert is hitting back at critics who believe that the monarchy should be abolished. Despite the fact that King Charles is doing quite well in the popularity polls, anti-royal toxicity has been on the rise. But for this royal expert, it just doesn’t make much sense. Here’s what you need to know.
King Charles Concerned As Anti-Royal Toxicity On The Rise
When it comes to the royal family, Jennie Bond thinks that the British public needs to show a little more respect or at least more appreciation for what the monarchy has done for the nation over the years. For those who want to abolish the monarchy though, Bond has a challenge for them.
According to GB News, she said, “I say bring it on, bring it on! If that’s the truth, then let’s have a referendum. And I really do think that all the polls suggest that if we were to have referendum then as you say, about 60% of the population would say, well actually we quite like it. Let’s keep it as it is. And what would a politician do?”
Royal Family News: Is The Monarchy In Danger?
And while some people want change, Bond doesn’t think that’s going to happen right now. In fact, she thinks that the monarchy will continue to operate the same way until Prince William becomes king of England.
Bond added, “But I’d be quite surprised actually how he has stuck rigidly to the royal year, the structure of that year, the season as it goes on. And I don’t think he’s going to change that in the years to come. I think we would look to William for radical change.”
So far Buckingham Palace has not made any comments about the matter, but at this point, it’s doubtful anything will be said.
That said though, many royal critics believe that the British monarchy is still a dying institution that might not last much longer, and especially not after King Charles’ death. Watch this space.
