Royal family news reveals King Charles III counting down to his coronation. And at less than 100 days away, the new British monarch’s coronation comes amid a rift with his son Prince Harry. As a result, the King finally made a decision on Harry.
Find out if the new British monarch wants Prince Harry to attend his coronation. And learn what insiders shared. Get all the details below.
King Charles – Considers Inviting Prince Harry To Coronation
Because of all the bombshells in Harry’s memoir Spare, some assumed King Charles would refuse to invite his son to his coronation. But an insider told People that Charles wants Harry to attend. However, don’t look for the British monarch to comment on his feelings toward his son’s book right now.
But the King does view the May 6 ceremony at Westminster Abbey as “such a momentous occasion,” noted the source. “And he would want his son to be at the coronation to witness it. He would like to have Harry back in the family,” added the insider.
And that leaves the British monarch figuring out how to mend the rift between the royal family on one side and Harry plus his wife Meghan Markle on the other.
But the King does realize the need to make peace, according to the source. “If they don’t sort it out, it will always be part of the King’s reign and how he has left his family disjointed. He has had a reputation as a distant parent, and it would be awful for him for that to continue,” noted the insider.
Prince Harry – To Accept An Invitation From King Charles?
However, royal historian Robert Lacey offered a different perspective on the rift between father and son. And Lacey pointed out, “One of the jobs of the royal family is showing how to cope with the problems we all have in a human and thoughtful way. What will be a success for the family in the future is not reconciliation necessarily,” claimed the royal historian. “But mutual acceptance of different ideas and priorities.”
As a result, Lacey feels that it sounds like an insult to ask when the King will “kiss and make up” with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. “There have been some very grave disagreements between them. But the Platinum Jubilee [in June 2022] and the funerals of the Queen and Prince Philip did demonstrate that they could put personal enmity aside for the sake of the bigger cause,” he added. “And that is what the coronation will be all about.”

However, an insider close to Harry and Meghan claimed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex did not yet receive an invitation. And Harry seems hesitant about accepting the invitation. For instance, the Duke of Sussex told an interviewer, “There’s a lot that can happen between now and then. But, you know, the door is always open. The ball is in their court. There’s a lot to be discussed,” pointed out the King’s youngest son. “And I really hope that they are willing to sit down and talk about it.”
