Queen Camilla Sparkles In Aquamarine Tiara As Princess Kate Misses Diplomatic Reception
The white tie event saw the male guests, including the King, looking handsome and polished in black suits. However, Camilla chose to be the crown jewel of the evening by attending in a Fiona Clare blue velvet dress. She also wore a sparkling aquamarine tiara, opting to pair it with aquamarine and diamond earrings and necklace. Her sash carried King Charles’s new family order.
The Royal Collection Trust said of the event: “Diplomatic Receptions are the largest annual receptions at Buckingham Palace, with a guest list numbering around 1,000.
The invitation list is coordinated by the Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps and invitations are sent to all the ambassadors and high commissioners at the foreign missions in London, as well as past Prime Ministers, the Archbishops of Canterbury and York and other public figures.”
While the event is normally held on the first Tuesday in December, it was brought forward to avoid a clash with a State Visit of the Amir of Qatar this year. 1500 guests from around 130 countries graced the event, with the greeting line organised by diplomatic precedence, namely the length of their time in office.
Prince William was seen in active conversations with several of the guests throughout the engaging evening, even though Princess Kate, who continues to focus on being cancer-free, was not in attendance.
While fans would no doubt have loved to see the Princess of Wales, it is a bit of a consolation when we remember that she will be holding her Westminster Abbey Christmas concert again this year. The theme this year is meant to celebrate togetherness during uncertain times.
