As the saying goes, it’s good to be king. But for King Charles, nothing feels good about his relationship right now with his youngest son Prince Harry.

As a result, the monarch has decided to celebrate his birthday by holding a family reunion, an insider told New Idea.

And that decision has persuaded King Charles to plead with his sons. As he looks ahead to his milestone 75th birthday, the monarch longs for November 14 to include reconciling with his youngest son Prince Harry. And an insider revealed that Charles “summoned Harry to London for a small pre-birthday dinner.”

At that meal, the monarch hopes “to begin the healing process,” added the palace source. And the insider revealed that Harry seems “desperate to rekindle his relationship with his father.” However, that might require also mending the rift with his brother Prince William. 

But Harry might feel willing to end his feud with William, according to the source. However, the insider believes that the Duke of Sussex will do so only “if Charles makes it a personal request.”

King Charles Reveals His Deepest Desire

And the insider revealed that King Charles longs for his sons to stop battling and make peace. But the monarch’s wife Queen Camilla has done all that she can to support him. And Camilla has begun planning a big family gathering to celebrate her royal hubby’s birthday. 

“She knows how important it is for him to have both his sons there,” said the insider. And Charles also feels sad about lacking a connection with Meghan Markle’s and Harry’s children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. More than a year has passed since the monarch has seen his grandchildren, now ages four and two. 

“Charles knows he faces an uphill battle [to reunite his sons],” said the insider. “But he’s going to make sure everyone, especially William, is aware of his wishes. While William is still steaming mad over Harry’s actions, he is his father’s son.” As a result, the source predicted that William seems “likely to soften to keep Charles happy on his birthday.”

Prince Harry Rejected Olive Branch Previously

But the biggest challenge could come in Harry’s willingness to accept his father’s olive branch. For instance, Charles recently sent his son an invitation to honor the anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s death at Balmoral with the rest of the family. But Harry rejected the invitation.

However, Charles still hopes to “sit down and share a wee dram with both his sons.” But the King told insiders that he feels “both a personal and a strategic need to resolve the issue. Charles loves Harry,” added one source. “But his priority also is to fulfill his duty as king and not let his mother down.”
