King Charles Shut Down Prince Harry’s Passion – Did He Make A Huge Mistake?

King Charles Shut Down Prince Harry’s Passion – Did He Make A Huge Mistake?Perhaps Prince Harry was right when he said that being a member of the Royal Family meant sacrificing certain things to be able to better live a life of service.

Turns out that despite his storied decade-long run in the British military and his founding of the Invictus Games shortly after, Harry might not only have lived a whole different life had his father let him, but could possibly have loved doing so.

Prince Harry Wanted To Work At A Place Cherished By His Mother Princess Diana

There were a lot of things that we learned about Harry in his memoir ‘Spare,’ some of which were so funny they were immediately turned into comedy gold on late night shows, and some of which were not.

However, I feel like the part most people would relate to was where Harry shared his enthusiasm to pursue a dream completely outside the boundaries of a senior royal’s life.

“For several years I’d talked in all seriousness about working at the ski resort in Lech am Arlberg, where Mummy used to take us,” he wrote in the bestselling memoir.

However, despite his burning passion to work at this ski resort, he eventually had to sadly give up on it.

“Specifically, I wanted to work at the fondue hut in the centre of town, which Mummy loved. That fondue could change your life. (I really was that mad.) But now I told Pa I’d given up the fondue fantasy, and he sighed with relief.”

Since his mind was already set on working at the ski resort as an instructor, he eventually worked up the courage to ask his father. “I was taken with notions of becoming a ski instructor… Pa tensed again,”

Harry said. Charles would then firmly shut him down with a “out of the question” response. Harry, like a dog on a bone, tried again, “OK. Long pause. How about… safari guide?” to which Charles was said to have replied: “No, darling boy.”

Harry hasn’t publicly regretted joining the army nearly immediately after his secondary school days, but instead has spoken up about how his decade in the army moulded him into a more disciplined and generous person.
