Mariah Carey has become known as one of the music world’s most famous divas. But the When You Believe songstress believes that ultimately, someone else has become an even bigger diva: Meghan Markle. And when Mariah appeared on the Duchess of Sussex’s Archetypes podcast, Carey didn’t hesitate to share her views.
Find out what happened when the famous singer called out the Duchess for her diva ways. And learn how Meghan tried to defend herself. Get all the details below.
Meghan Markle – Denies Diva Persona: Mariah Carey Mocks!
Ever since the Duchess of Sussex stepped down from her royal family duties, she has taken every opportunity to slam the royal family. But although commentators and the media often bash her in return, no one criticizes Meghan to her face. That is, no one until now.
And on Tuesday’s episode of Markle’s Archetypes podcast, diva met diva in a moment no one could have predicted. Serving as Meghan’s celebrity guest on the episode, Mariah Carey lived up to her reputation for saying exactly what she thinks. And the Duchess of Sussex “started to sweat” as Carey threw shade, reported Page Six.
The diva debate began when the 41-year-old wife of Prince Harry shared that she feels no personal connection to the diva persona. But at 53, Mariah feels that she can judge diva characteristics. And Carey promptly dared to interrupt the Duchess of Sussex with her accusations.
Mariah Carey – Makes Meghan Markle Panic With Diva Shade!
In response to Meghan insisting she does not personally “connect to the “diva persona,” Mariah challenged her. “You give us diva moments sometimes, Meghan,” asserted the songstress. “Don’t act like [you don’t].”

However, despite her acting experience on Suits, the Duchess of Sussex’s acting abilities seemed to fail her. And she seemed to panic. “What kind of diva moments did I give you?” Markle asked.
The awkward situation contrasted with Meghan’s previous podcast interview. In that episode, Markle chatted with her close friend Serena Williams. And the two showed off their friendship, repeatedly supporting and praising each other. But Mariah clearly felt no such obligation.
However, Carey did give the Duchess of Sussex a break. Well, sort of. The songstress explained that she referred to Meghan’s “visuals” rather than her personality. And Mariah added that she “didn’t mean” to offend Markle. But although Carey described her diva shade as “playing” on the podcast, Meghan later admitted she felt anxious.
And Markle followed up the interview with a confession. As a result of her “nervous laughter,” Meghan shared that the singer tried to reassure her. Mariah “must have felt my nervous laughter,” claimed the Duchess of Sussex. “And … she jumped right in to make sure I was crystal clear that when she said diva, she was talking about the way I dress, the posture, the clothing,” said Meghan.

Meaghan wasn’t cut out for work as a Royal. She just isn’t. Although Diana had a shaky start,, Diana adjusted well ~ as if she was an old pro at it all.
