Meghan Markle Admits Why She Won’t Give up “Sussex” Title

Meghan Markle Admits Why She Won’t Give up “Sussex” TitleBritish royal family news reveals that Netflix did zero PR for Meghan Markle’s delayed new cooking show “As Ever, Meghan” so Meghan got creative and did her own publicity blitz. Is there anything she can’t do?

Meghan talked to PEOPLE.com about her controversial show starring Mindy Kaling in the role of best friend. That role was previously played by Melissa McCarthy. Here’s what to know about the torrid show that drops March 4.

Meghan Markle Did Her Own PR

While Meghan, Duchess of Sussex talked about her latest hit, and private life with Prince Harry and his two children, Prince Archie and Lilibet, she also stopped long enough to talk about her royal in-laws.

During the interview, the topic of the couple’s using the “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex” titles came up. Harry and Meghan have been criticized for using these titles despite their choice of removing themselves from the monarchy in 2020.

So, why does the former basic cable actress insist on playing up a title given to her by a family she’s estranged from?

Why Does Meghan use a Title Given to Her By People She Doesn’t Speak To?

According to Meghan, the Sussex name “holds a deeper significance than she could have imagined before motherhood.” The titles were given to the traitors by the late Queen Elizabeth for their 2018 wedding.

She noted “It’s our shared name as a family, and I guess I hadn’t recognized how meaningful that would be to me until we had children. I love that that is something that Archie, Lili, H and I all have together. It means a lot to me.” She concluded that the name “is part of our love story.”

Meghan Insists on Using the Duchess Title

Meanwhile, critics have said that the success of the cooking show determines if Netflix keeps the couple on their payroll. One insider claims that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are on “borrowed time” with the streamer.

A source told The Sunday Times: “There’s a feeling that Netflix hasn’t got great value for money [from the Sussexes] because they were buying exclusivity. But then the couple appeared in other places, like their podcasts, and because their popularity has nosedived.”

They added “This might be a way to milk some value out of them.”

At the same time, an industry insider declared that the word used to describe the pair is “nightmare.” That would brook with what one Spotify insider called them before they were let go: “f****** grifters.”

The Sussex Family ditched the monarchy in 2020 in a move tagged “Megxit.” Since then they have gained a reputation as whiners due to nonstop complaints about both of their families, who they have nothing to do with. Harry and Meghan live in Montecito, California, where their daughter Lilibet was born.
