Royal family news reveals that Spotify has parted ways with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. And Spotify staff as well as industry insiders have thrown shade at the couple.

For instance, one Spotify employee described the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as “f***ing grifters.” And insiders explained exactly how Meghan and Harry earned labels such as “lazy and difficult.”

Spotify Staff Slam Prince Harry And Meghan Markle As ‘Grifters’!

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have become “lazy f***ing grifters,” according to Spotify employees and insiders. And after the Spotify cancellation bombshell, these individuals threw more shade at the Duchess and Duke of Sussex.

For instance, after the podcasting network put the kibosh on their $20 million deal, Spotify international sports content head Bill Simmons mocked the couple on his podcast, noted Page Six.

And Simmons declared, “The ‘f***ing grifters.’ That’s the podcast we shoulda launched with them.” However, other insiders described Meghan and Harry as “lazy.” And amid the verbal attacks, the Duchess and Duke of Sussex face a financial crisis. Meghan and Harry must pay huge bills for their luxurious California lifestyle. 

For example, their Montecito estate, purchased for $14.7 million in June 2020, includes a huge mortgage. Add in annual property taxes of $144,427, along with staffing and maintenance, and the bills continue to present problems. Meghan and Harry pay $2 million annually for their private security detail. And they also must pay the legal fees from the Duke of Sussex’s wars with the British media.

Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Seem ‘Lazy And Difficult’

However, one insider clarified that Harry and Meghan have not become broke. But because of their bills, they need to keep spending money. And that means the couple can’t bank any money they make, pressuring them to find new deals. That may become more challenging in the wake of the Spotify deal failure.

The Duchess and Duke of Sussex signed their deal with Spotify in 2020. However, in more than two years, they produced only 13 hours of programming. And that amount represents 12 episodes of Markle’s Archetypes podcast, and a one-off holiday special. As a result, Meghan and Harry will miss out on the potential significant earnings for the deal.

“Although ‘Archetypes’ did well and got a couple of awards, when you go into a deal like this, to have just one series over that course of time is not great,” summed up one insider. And Spotify staffer Simmons joked, “I wish I had been involved in the ‘Meghan and Harry leave Spotify’ negotiation. That’s a podcast we should’ve launched with them.”

But an insider noted, “Meghan and Harry are the outlier on all of this. I think they have come off as being lazy and difficult.” Spotify and Archewell issued a statement together stating they “mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series we made together.”
