Coincidence? Or an attempt by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to steal the spotlight back from Kate and William? Get the details below.
Prince Harry, Meghan Share Netflix Trailer Amid William, Kate’s U.S. Trip
Battle of the brothers and sisters-in-laws? Well, maybe. Because Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just happened to time the first look at their Netflix documentary series to the middle of Kate Middleton and Prince William’s Boston trip, pointed out Page Six.
Titled simply Harry & Meghan, the trailer offers pictures throughout their romance. But the focus seems to emphasize what went wrong. For instance, photos show a gloomy Markle at royal events. And she even lets the tears flow. However, other visuals include their new home in California.
And the narration comes from both the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. For example, Harry shares, “No one sees what’s happening behind closed doors.” And Meghan questions, “When the stakes are this high, doesn’t it make more sense to hear our story from us?”
Meghan Markle Shares Netflix Trailer Amid Media Racism Storm
However, in addition to dropping the trailer amid William’s and Kate’s United States visit, Meghan and Harry shared it amid a controversy over racism. The media storm took place just a day after William’s and Kate’s visit to a Celtics basketball game. But even sports fans’ enthusiasm for royalty at the game couldn’t tone down the racism controversy.
And while it resulted in a royal aide stepping down at Buckingham Palace, the media storm over racism also recalled Harry’s and Meghan’s previous accusations. They claimed that royal family members asked about the color of their son Archie’s skin before his birth. Those allegations occurred during the couple’s interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021. And William attacked the claims, asserting that the royal family is “very much not a racist family.”
However, details about what might else get revealed in the Netflix documentary series remain a mystery. Set to premiere on December 8, the show meant trusting the director, said Markle, 41. And she also revealed that she and Harry, 38, recognize the possible drawbacks. Turning over the series to the director “means it may not be the way we would have told it,” cautioned Markle.
Meghan Markle Gushes Over Her Netflix ‘Love Story’ Show
However, she also gushed about seeing her romance turned into a series. And Meghan called it “the piece of my life I haven’t been able to share, that people haven’t been able to see … our love story.” Rumors about the series began when the Duchess and Duke of Sussex signed a multi-million-dollar deal with Netflix.
But an insider shared that the two now feel worried about what might get revealed. And they have become “panicked,” added the source. As a result, Meghan and Harry have become obsessed “about trying to tone down even the most basic language.”
