Will Meghan Markle and Prince Harry make a difference? Catherine St-Laurent, a philanthropic and strategic communications adviser, has offered her services to some very high ranking individuals, from Melinda and Bill Gates to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. She is happiest and has a sense of purpose when she is working for strong women and she loves investing in female-led start-ups.
She recently transitioned to serve as the senior adviser to the Archewell Foundation, the charitable organization founded by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. She formerly worked for the couple’s non-profit foundation as the chief of staff.
Catherine St-Laurent On Working With Meghan Markle And Prince Harry
In an interview with The Cut, Catherine, 40, talked about how she is able to work as a mother, especially when she is handling multiple projects. She talked about her work ethics, her driving force, and also shared what it was like working with Meghan Markle, 39, and Prince Harry, 36, to build their Archewell Foundation.
“It was an incredible experience. They are incredibly talented and creative leaders,” the mom-of-two began. “I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to do that, to be able to be with them on their journey.”
“The time that I spent with them was incredibly fulfilling. I think they have the potential to be very influential leaders in the social-impact space. I look forward to continuing to be a part of that,” she concluded.
In March 2020, just a few weeks after they stepped down as senior members of the royal family and relocated to California, Meghan and Harry announced that Catherine St-Laurent would serve as their chief of staff, as well as executive director of their non-profit organization, Archewell Foundation. A little over eleven months later, Catherine announced on LinkedIn that she has transitioned to the role of adviser for their Archewell Foundation.
“It’s been a privilege working closely with The Duke and Duchess of Sussex helping to establish Archewell Foundation in its first year,” she said. “Their commitment to compassion and wellbeing has been the undercurrent of all our activities both within the organization as well as with impactful projects of the foundation on the ground. I am deeply proud of what we’ve accomplished together and I’m honored to remain on as an advisor.”
Catherine St-Laurent’s Other Ventures
After helping to steer the Archewell Foundation, Catherine St-Laurent launched Acora Partners in 2021, with her business partner, Rebecca Goldman. Acora Partners is a boutique philanthropic advising and social-impact consulting firm (working with individuals, families, not-for-profits, and corporations on giving back).
She also serves as an advisory board member for The Helm, a venture firm supporting investments in female-founded start-ups.
Describing her work with The Helm, she said that “It’s about helping advise philanthropists or female-founded companies on how to drive social impact and how to achieve that kind of change, and really embrace bold leadership in that space and be advocates and be strategic investors in social impact … the same ethos applies to women as investors.”
