According to author Tina Brown, who wrote the book, The Palace Papaers, says that one of the reasons why Meghan stuck around as long as she did while she was at Buckingham Palace is because she loved getting designer clothes, shoes and goods for free.

And it’s not like Meghan just wanted these gifts, at one point she even expected it.

Brown wrote in her book, “She [Meghan] won a reputation among the marketers of luxury brands of being warmly interested in receiving bags of designer swag.”

If that weren’t enough, Meghan also supposedly told one staff member, “Make sure [the publicist] knows that she can still send me anything. She’s always been one of the good ones.”

The insider also added, “Meghan couldn’t resist everything that was on offer on the celebrity buffet. They [Harry and Meghan] wanted to be able to have a commercial arm to their activities.”

“Meghan certainly saw deals that were there to be made that they had to leave on the table because they were royals,”

Her benefits clearly ended when Meghan and her husband Prince Harry pulled the plug on their working relationship with the royal family back in 2020. They moved to America and haven’t looked back since.

Now, whether or not Meghan Markle gets freebies as an financially-independent royal, no one really knows. But at the same time, it’s not like she really needs anything because she’s not walking the red carpet as much as she used to when she and Harry lived in London.

So far the Duchess of Sussex herself as not made any comments about the matter just yet.
